Two Square Feet of Wall Space

Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, “Let us be silent that we may hear the whisper of God.”

Twelve words, that on a plaque in my dining room only take up two square feet of wall space - not competing at all with the larger prints in the room; but it’s what catches my eye every time I walk in.

The plaque was a gift years ago, from a friend who knew my journey well (thank you, Sparkey!) and it continues to remind me that our lives are hectic, with many loud things vying for our attention; and in order to hear God’s whisper, we must be able to hear Him – as He does not compete with the larger noise in the room.

How can we say He never talks to us, if we’re never quiet enough to listen?

He spoke, and the whole world was made.  Imagine the impact of just one whisper . . .

For example . . .

Place of Sage.  It all began with seven whispered words.  “This is the way, walk in it.”   And the name Place of Sage? You guessed it.  We were standing on the most beautiful land I have ever seen, when He whispered those three little words: Place of Sage.  And the rest, as they say, is history . . . and two books, with a third on its way.

“Let us be silent that we may hear the whisper of God.”  Are you listening?

Hope this finds you having a beautiful day.
